La Junta is a small but important town in southeastern Colorado. We were privileged to celebrate the 70th wedding anniversary of some relatives and the venue was in La Junta. We didn’t need a fancy hotel, but we wanted to be comfortable snd chose the Hampton Inn. From the minute we arrived, we knew we had made a good choice. We had a small dog in tow, it was 93 degrees outside and we weren’t exactly sure how we were going to handle the dog. We called a few minutes before we arrived to see if our room was ready (it was just after noon) and indeed by the time we arrived our room was ready. We unloaded the dog kennel and he was in a nice cool space rather than in a car that had to be restarted every 10 minutes to keep the A/C going. Our room was very clean, the air conditioning perfect and despite being right next to the train tracks, we didn’t hear a train until morning. There is a difference between polite friendly one might find in a big city and “friendly friendly’ that is found in rural US. ‘Friendly friendly” is refreshing and that is what we found at this Hampton. We were very grateful for such a pleasant stay.
We had a great stay, sleeping, swimming and eating breakfast.
