We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The hotel was clean, the location was perfect for the Jersey City Marathon and the staff was friendly. While it is an older hotel, our bathroom was updated. We would return. You can't beat the free parking during the marathon with a way to escape the traffic. The hotel was also very understanding about letting you park a bit later than the checkout time for this day!
I have stayed at the Holland many times and the best way to describe this hotel is it a simple but perfect. From the outside it doesn't look like anything special, but on inside each room has a amazingly comfortable king size bed with all the amenities needed. There is a refrigerator in each room, flat screen tv, a desk, a place to hang your clothes and a place to store your folded clothes. There's an iron, along with a hair dryer. If you are expecting the most modern hotel, this is not it. This is the most comfortable hotel and cleanliness is one of the top priorities here.
Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and close to the subway into the city. It's a perfect launching place for anyone wanting to go into the city but not stay in the city. We drove in one day and the tunnel is right around the corner, so it was easy peasy.
Commuting to the city is easy, parking is free, rooms are comfortable and clean, staff is helpful.
