First of all, when making a reservation at this property, the phone number listed on the website connects you to Expedia. Their reservation personnel may not be familiar with this property and may not offer the best rooms, deals, packages, etc. They also charge up front and collect resort fees, taxes etc. for each night's stay; so be careful you're not charged again for these at checkout. The daily room rate is probably in line with other similar properties, but when the resort fee is added, it gets very expensive. And frankly, not worth it. Places like the Greenbrier and Homestead are similarly priced but offer much more amenities. The rooms in the main building have been upgraded; the one's in the out buildings are in need of refurbishing. Ours was clearly showing it's age and the outdoor balcony overlooking the water was unusable. Cushions were soaked from a previous storm and dirty. Food service is okay at dinner; under par at breakfast. Toast on two mornings was cold. Eggs had sat under a heat lamp too long. All in all, we've had better stays at the Tides Inn. This one was not memorable and may be the last.
